Sorrow and Truth Exposed

That night you spoke of leaving
I broke something in you
That love that I had been reading
So uncharted and very new
Waters I unskilled at navigating
I rashly just kept rowing
Toward islands I imagined waiting

When all you wanted
Was that mooring
Lashed to something familiar
She whom you knew

Such a tossing sent me diving
Sea salt filled my lungs
And that night I begged for dying
You held me tight against it
Praying to gods you didn't know
For evil deeds I thought were needed
To make the pain of such sinking
Stop and staunch the bleeding

You were gone long before
Never were really here

That night shames my soul
Truth is what needs to wash it
I had no right to wish for death
In the bottom of our closet
Your body blocking such cursed magic

I suppose its no wonder then
That your plan to toss us
And chase the wind in solitude
Became the only path you sought after

I am sorry for such dismay
I had no right to keep you
You never wished me anyway
I'm sorry still for that darkest day

Such madness leaks out sometimes
For feelings are filled with much
Souls ever exposed
That seek a tender touch
Inexcusable is what I did
For you are not a crutch.

Love is in the knowing
How to love alone
Found returned to God
In your final going

May this truth be a reminder
Of the sorrow that I inflicted
On a man whose soul was
Known to be conflicted.
